Vibe Check

I'm mentioned before how important it is that clients vibe with their photographer. Especially if it's been a long time since you've had family photos taken and you want those image up on your walls. The more you connect with the photographer, the more authentic you're going to be, the more you're going to connect with your family members, and the more you're going to love your images.

So how can you tell if you're going to vibe with your photographer? Let's get on the phone or a zoom call. Let's do a consult. You come armed with questions and I will come with my own. Not only are you wanting to make sure that I am the right fit for your sessions; I want to ensure that you're the right client for me. Does your session align with my business?

If I'm not the best fit for the job, I promise, I will tell you that. I will provide a list of photographers that may be better suited for your request. I'm a millennial, or at least I think I am, I don't actually know. One thing that I do know though is that making phone calls and video calls is a bit scary. Why do that when you could just e-mail and text!? I hate to admit it, but phone calls or video calls are easier and way less time consuming. We could hash out some details in five minutes vs over an hour of back and forth typing. Since tone cannot be conveyed over text, we will get a much better feel of one another when we hear our voices. Maybe you don't know what I sound like? I have a very unique sounding voice and quite the midwestern accent. My regional dialect has sparked many conversations. So, let's get something scheduled. I promise, without fail, I will be the more awkward one of the two of us.

Some reading this may think that I am overthinking this. A consult for a photographer? Ugh, yeah. This may be the only family photos that you're going to have taken for five years. So, let's work out the details. My husband and I had a consultation with our wedding photographer, with our sons' pediatrician, and I even had a phone call with the director of youth hockey before I signed my boys up for the sport. So yes, a consultation call truly is important. Afterall, I'd love for this to be an ongoing relationship, so let's start off on the right foot.
