The Addams Family Maternity Session

Were you a 90's kid, like me? If so, you probably remember the 1991 movie The Addams Family. At the end of the film, the family's matriarch, Morticia Addams is visibly pregnant. Christy reminded me of this tidbit of information when she inquired about a themed maternity session. Christy informed me that she was planning family themed Halloween costumes for herself, her husband, and her two school-aged children. Say no more, I was 100% invested.

We had initially planned for an outdoor session in a cemetery, but Mother Nature did not cooperate with our wishes, so we moved the session indoors to the family home. Christy is a master crafter and decorator, and we rearranged some furniture and shot the session in their dining room in front of their bookcases that we still decorated for Halloween.

I am in complete awe of Christy's wig making abilities. She informed me that it took about 6 weeks to complete Wednesday and Cousin It's wigs and she would work on them while the family watching a movie in the evenings. Each wig started out with a baseball cap base. When I asked her about her inspiration for the costumes, she said that she had never been pregnant for Halloween before and really wanted to do a fun family theme.

Dack dressed as Gomez Addams wearing a smoking jacket--cigar included! It was very apparent that Dack, like Gomez, was absolutely smitten with his bride. This couple had such strong chemistry and needed almost no direction for posing from me.

This session was truly one of a kind and I'm so honored that Christy and Dack asked me to capture these special photos for them. I wish Christy an easy and enjoyable third trimester of pregnancy and a happy birthing when they welcome their baby girl in the new year.
