Spotlight: Kitchen Corner Knitting

I'd like to introduce you to one of my very favorite humans on the planet. No, probably the entire universe. Helen. I meet up with Helen almost an entire year ago to take her photos and I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. My badness.

What a gorgeous specimen of a human, right?! But that's not all. Aside from being insanely good looking, hilarious, and one fine baker, she's also a fiber artist. Helen owns Kitchen Corner Knitting. Helen designs her own patterns from hats, shawls, mittens, and even knit eggplants. Seriously!

Helen is a baker turned knitter (knit queen), what's the correct term here? She also rocked the scene as a pandemic homeschool mom during the 2020 school year. Helen enjoys snuggling with her kiddos, playing with her kitty, and saying horrible pick-up lines to her husband in her spare time.

Are you a fiber artist yourself and looking to connect with other like-minded crafters? Helen holds a knitting meet-up called Knit Happens at Atelier at 1109 every Wednesday evening in October. Call the store or visit their Facebook page for specific hours. You can expect lively conversation and assistance from other knitters if you're stuck. You can also just come to show off your current project or talk about your crafting goals.

Knit Happens reminds me so much of the meet-up in the fictional book The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. It's one of my favorite books to read in the fall when the weather is starting to get cooler. The sequels Knit Two and Knit The Season will take you through the winter holidays while following the characters on their adventures with knitting, family, and togetherness in full-focus.

I know it's difficult to read, but Helen's Raygun shirt reads, "ENTREPRENEURSHIP: THE GRAY AREA BETWEEN EMPLOYED AND UNEMPLOYED." Haha, but also....oopmph, right in the feels.

Helen made me the best rainbow slouchy hat last year. I receive compliments whenever I wear it. It's become a staple in my fall and winter wardrobe. Although Helen's commissions are currently closed, she hopes to re-open custom slots in January 2022. Right now she is focusing on developing patterns for purchase, finishing up custom orders, and keeping items stocked at Atelier at 1109.

I was able to take home several of Helen's pieces to do some flat lay shots using my light box. I have never done any product photography, and it is much harder than you'd think. So your girl here is all ears for tips--if you have any. Drop the links in the comments!

I couldn't resist taking some action shots of Helen knitting. Action shots of knitting--that seems like such a oxymoron! Anyway, I'm in love with this image.
