Newborn Model Call Info

For the last six months, I have had the privilege of photographing newborns in the hospital for Fresh 48 Sessions. I have absolutely loved it and I knew immediately I wanted to begin offering newborn sessions of my own. My only hesitation though, was that I felt like I needed proper training to safely pose newborns and how to utilize studio lighting to the best of its ability. In mid-January I had the opportunity to train alongside eleven talented photographers from all over the United States and learn from Amy and Lindsey with The Newborn Nerds. This two-day workshop plus my hospital experience has provided me with the confidence I needed to pursue posed newborn sessions. In order to hone my skills, I will be outlining the information for the model calls below.

Please note that models do not need any modeling experience (obviously, they're babies.) I will be choosing two families for posed in-studio model calls and one family for a lifestyle session in their home. Please read the full description before applying.

I am seeking out a BIPOC and/or LGBTQI+ families for the lifestyle session. This session would take place in the family's home, within 20 miles of Norwalk, Iowa. The newborn lifestyle session, like Braxton's session, will focus on the bond within the family. We can utilize a variety of places inside the home for the session including the baby's nursery, the living room, and even parents' bedroom. Older siblings and pets will be included in the session. This is a good opportunity to capture breastfeeding/chestfeeding photos. The session will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and the dates are flexible, but ideally, I would photograph baby within two weeks of their birthday. I am requiring a $50 session fee for this session, which can then be applied towards the purchase of products. This guarantees that the family follows through with their date. They will also receive three complimentary digital images of their choice.

Next, I will be accepting two families for posed newborn photos in my in-home studio in Norwalk, Iowa. The baby will need to be two weeks old at the time of the session. This session can take up to three hours, as it may take some time to soothe baby first to get him calm. Please bring a pacifier to the session, feeding, and diapering supplies. Wraps and props will be provided. I am requiring a $50 session fee for this session, which can then be applied towards the purchase of products. This guarantees that the family follows through with their session since I will not be booking other sessions on that date. They will also receive three complimentary digital images of their choice.
