Ashley - 2024 Senior
So. you're a high school senior? This is an important year in your academic journey, as it's typically your last year in high school before moving on to college, vocational training, or other post-secondary options. It's a time to focus on your studies, finalize your college applications (if that's your plan), and prepare for the transition to the next stage of your education or career.

This year is full of all things that are new and exciting. Many seniors dread the typical senior year traditions, but Ashley was actually really excited about getting her senior photos taken. I was able to photograph Ashley and her older brother, Caleb, two years ago. You can laugh along with me and see how much Ashley has changed in those two years on the blog post.
To say that Ashley is a 'good student' is an understand. She is slated to end her high school career with a GPA higher than a 4.0. She's intelligent, but never condescending. I imagine that if Ashley and I were seniors together, we'd have been really weird together--in all the best ways, of course! She is unapologetically herself, by rocking her black army boots with a dress, to scheming on how to make money as an eager 8th grader.

Ashley and both of her parents sat down together to choose their images. The image of Ashley with the flowers in front of the Papa John Sculpure Park is one of Mom's favorites from the session.
I like how Ashley was able to create a variety of different looks by making simple changes to her wardrobe. She started with the black dress and heels, then swapped out the heels for her boots, then a quick change to a denim skirt and a green top with the boots, then a black top with jeans and boots, then added the flannel with the sleeves cuffed, then the flannel tied around her waist. She even jumped into a cap and gown for a few photos!

I didn't time her session, but we were able to move very quickly, but I don't think it felt rushed at all. Ashley knew what types of photos she wanted. We had chatted ahead of time about the locations and starting places, so I felt confident going into the session. Ashley is also an ace at posing. She has completely mastered the 'Don't look at the camera' look. So many of my seniors struggle with not knowing where to look or how to move their face. Ashley knew exactly what to do with very little prompting. When in doubt, keep moving, seniors! Turn your head, smile, look over your shoulder, turn your hips, etc.
Ashley was a total rockstar throughout her session (and honestly her entire 17 1/2 years). I am so excited to hear about all of the amazing things she's going to accomplish post high school.
